About National Road Safety Award

The concern about road safety has significantly grown over the past few years in the State of Qatar. The number of traffic crashes and the subsequent loss of life and resources have reached a worrying level. In order to address this issue and under the auspices and in the presence of the Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the ‘National Traffic Safety Committee has launched the National Road Safety Strategy in January 2013, which details a list of action plans which provide a long-term vision for road safety in Qatar. Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) at Qatar University had been awarded some of these action plan by NSTC to further enhance and improve road traffic safety in Qatar.

As part of these improvements and towards a safe road transport system for all road users in the State of Qatar, Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center, in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee, had the privilege to develop this national proposal to implement a Road Safety Awards program for the State of Qatar.

We hope the program will promote best practice in road safety in Qatar and recognizing those individuals, organizations or educational institutions who strive to make the roads of Qatar safe.
